Srinagar: Ahead of Muharram, the Srinagar police have issued a public advisory urging people to observe the procession with peace, dignity and discipline.
In a handout, the police said that maintain peace, discipline and communal harmony throughout the procession.
Follow all directions issued by the administration and police authorities.Cooperate with traffic police and volunteers for smooth movement.
Ensure the procession remains confined to the permitted route and purpose. Respect the religious sentiments and beliefs of all communities.
Protect public and government property and maintain cleanliness. Do not indulge in any unlawful activity or create any law & order situation.
Do not raise provocative slogans, make inflammatory speeches or engage in activities that may outrage religious sentiments. Do not obstruct traffic flow or movement of pedestrians.
Do not damage, deface or misuse government/public property. Do not display provocative banners, posters, placards, flags etc.
Do not disrespect the National Flag or glorify any country, organization or group. Do not carry or display flags/symbols of any country, organization or group. Do not engage in any activity detrimental to the integrity, sovereignty and unity of the Nation.
The advisory said public cooperation will ensure a peaceful and dignified observance of Muharram, based on the principles of peace, respect, harmony and responsibility, reads the statement.(GNS)
