Social & student rights activist submits memorandum on key issues, appreciates public welfare initiatives
SRINAGAR: Srinagar: Er. Ehtisham Khan, Social & Student Rights Activist and Secretary, Gandhi King Foundation (Jammu & Kashmir), called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, at Lok Bhavan, Srinagar, in a cordial meeting during which a wide range of issues concerning student welfare, youth empowerment and public participation in governance were discussed.
During the interaction, Er. Khan submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting several constructive suggestions aimed at strengthening educational support systems, expanding opportunities for youth leadership, promoting entrepreneurship and skill development, encouraging sports and community engagement, and fostering greater collaboration between the administration and civil society for the overall development of Jammu & Kashmir.
Er. Khan also emphasised the importance of creating structured platforms through which young people can actively contribute to nation-building and public welfare initiatives. He reiterated that the youth of Jammu & Kashmir possess immense potential and, if provided with the right opportunities and institutional support, can play a transformative role in the Union Territory’s continued progress and development.
During the meeting, Er. Khan expressed appreciation for several people-centric initiatives undertaken by the administration under the leadership of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor. He particularly acknowledged the successful implementation of the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, describing it as a significant public awareness campaign that mobilised communities against the menace of drug abuse and reinforced collective responsibility towards protecting the younger generation.
He also appreciated the administration’s efforts towards extending compassionate support and rehabilitation, including employment opportunities, to families affected by terrorism, describing such measures as important steps towards restoring dignity, confidence and hope among affected families. Er. Khan further acknowledged the administration’s continued focus on grassroots governance, youth welfare, public outreach and inclusive development across Jammu & Kashmir.
As a gesture of appreciation, Er. Khan presented a Citation of Gratitude on behalf of The Purpose (Regd. Society), recognising the administration’s public welfare initiatives and congratulating the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor on the successful completion of the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and five years of dedicated service in Jammu & Kashmir.
Reaffirming his commitment to public service, Er. Khan offered his voluntary support, as well as that of the Gandhi King Foundation and his associated volunteer networks, for initiatives relating to student welfare, youth empowerment, public awareness, environmental conservation and community development. He expressed his willingness to collaborate with the administration in programmes that advance the interests of young people and contribute to the welfare of society.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues and suggestions presented during the meeting and responded positively, assuring that the proposals would receive due consideration.
Er. Khan expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor for the opportunity to present his views and reiterated his resolve to continue working towards the welfare of students, youth and the broader community through constructive engagement and public service.
