Says they ‘stood up for justice, dignity, democratic rights of people’
SRINAGAR: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, describing them as the true heroes of Jammu and Kashmir whose sacrifices became the foundation of the people’s struggle against autocratic rule and ultimately paved the way for the establishment of democracy in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Altaf Bukhari said, “The martyrs of July 13, 1931, have a place of honour in our history. They laid down their lives while raising their voices against oppression and injustice. Their supreme sacrifice ignited a powerful people’s movement that ultimately brought an end to autocratic rule in Jammu and Kashmir and opened the path towards democracy.”
He said that the sacrifices of the martyrs continue to inspire generations to remain steadfast in the pursuit of justice and democratic values. “This historic day reminds us of the extraordinary courage and resilience of those who stood up for justice and the rights of the people. Their legacy continues to inspire us to safeguard democracy, uphold the rule of law, and protect the democratic rights and aspirations of every citizen,” he said.
