SRINAGAR: In a major initiative aimed at preserving and promoting the rich religious, cultural and historical heritage of Habba Kadal constituency, the Government has accorded administrative approval to a series of restoration and development projects for several historic religious sites across the constituency.
The approvals come as a result of the sustained efforts of National Conference Women’s Wing President and MLA Habba Kadal Shamima Firdous who has consistently pursued the conservation and protection of the constituency’s invaluable heritage assets.
The projects approved under the initiative include Ziyarat Roopa Reshi (RA), Habba Kadal – ₹76 lakh; Ziyarat Syed Siraj-ud-Din (RA), Dalal Mohalla –₹1.22 crore; Ziyarat Hazrat Eshan Sahib (RA), Zaina Kadal –₹86 lakh;Ziyarat Syed Kamal-ud-Din Madani (RA), Kani Mazar –₹82 lakh Raghunath Temple, Kani Kadal –₹1.43 crore; Shiv Temple, BaghiyasChattabal–₹72 lakh.
The projects involve a cumulative investment of ₹5.81 crore and are aimed at ensuring the restoration, preservation, and upgradation of these revered sites, which embody Kashmir’s centuries-old traditions of communal harmony, religious coexistence, and shared cultural heritage.
Welcoming the approval of the projects MLA Shamima Firdous said that the preservation and promotion of shrines, temples, historic structures, and heritage sites remain among her foremost priorities. She stated that these sites are not only places of worship and spiritual significance but also invaluable symbols of Kashmir’s composite culture and historical legacy.
She further observed that the approval of these projects reflects the commitment of the Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, towards safeguarding the unique cultural and historical heritage of Jammu and Kashmir for future generations.
On behalf of the people of Habba Kadal, Shamima Firdous expressed her sincere gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for giving special consideration to this long-pending public demand and facilitating the approval of these important projects.
