THE BUTTERFLY

Must read

The butterfly,

Fluttering ecstatically,

Humming hymns

With the Quran in its arms,

Encountered a human

Who listens to the Quran

Every week

From microphones all around.

Yet, within him,

Animalism lay dormant—

Until it awoke.

He caught her,

Clipped her wings,

Strangled her,

And eventually took all she had:

Her colours, her exuberance, her sweetness, her life—

Leaving the garden autumnal.
