ANANTNAG: In its sustained drive against narcotics cultivation and drug-related activities, J&K Police has successfully detected and destroyed an illegally cultivated opium poppy crop spread over approximately 04 marlas of orchard land in the Larnoo area of Anantnag.
“Police Station Larnoo received credible information through reliable sources that one person identified as Gh Ahmad Sheikh alias Ama Khoja, son of Mohd Ramzan Sheikh, resident of Deesu, had allegedly cultivated opium poppy plants illegally in his orchard situated at Village Lovlupora. Acting promptly on the information, Police Station Larnoo registered FIR No. 24/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act and initiated investigation into the matter,” a police spokesperson said. “During the course of investigation, a police team, accompanied by the Executive Magistrate and Anantnag Police Destroys Illegal Opium Poppy Cultivation Spread Over 04 Marlas in Larnoo; Case Registered Under NDPS Act.”
Police reiterated commitment to eradicate the drug menace from society and have urged the general public to remain alert and share any information related to drug cultivation or trafficking with the nearest police establishment.
