Two drug peddlers arrested; contraband substances seized

BUDGAM: Continuing its drive against drug menace under Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, J&K Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and Shopian and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In Budgam, a police party of Police Station Khag near Sugen crossing intercepted and apprehended a suspicious person identified as Fairoz Ahmed Sheikh, son of Ab Ahad Sheikh, resident of Sugen Khag. During his personal search, a charas-like substance, concealed in corn husks, was recovered from his possession.
In Shopian, Police arrested one drug peddler and recovered charas-like substance from his possession. During routine naka checking at Baskuchan crossing, a police party from Police Station Imamsahib observed a person moving under suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him. Upon search, 60 grams charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Gh Hyder Khan son of Gh Mohd Khan resident of WachohallanImamsahib. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the broader drug network involved.
“All the accused person have been arrested and accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved,” a police spokesperson said.
J&K Police reaffirmed their commitment under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to ensure a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
