Eight drug peddlers arrested; cash, contraband seized
SRINAGAR: Continuing its relentless crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu & Kashmir Police have successfully arrested eight drug peddlers across Anantnag, Budgam, and Awantipora, recovering a significant quantity of contraband substances along with cash totalingā¹10,450 in three separate operations.
A police team from PS Anantnag at Danter apprehended four suspected peddlers. They have been identified as Shabir Qayoom, son of Abdul Qayoom Deva of Cheeni Chowk Anantnag; Zahid Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmed Mir of Hassnpora Bagh, Anantnag; and Faizan Lone, son of Nazir Ahamed Lone of Mir-Danter, Anantnag. One suspect, Gowher Reshi of Danter, managed to escape. During searches, authorities recovered 3.178 kg of ganja and ā¹10,450 in cash.
A police team at PP Sangam intercepted a Swift vehicle (JK04J-5556) at Marhama Crossing. The vehicle was carrying two individualsāMohammad Tufail Hajam, son of Abdul Salaam Hajam, and Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, son of Mohammad Sidiq Khanday, both residents of BadiporaChadoora. During search, officers recovered 3.29 grams of brown sugar-like substance and 7.88 grams of charas.
At Doodhnad Waghama, PS Bijbehara arrested Javaid Ahmad Mantoo, son of Wali Mohammad Mantoo of Waghama Bijbehara. During search, 468 grams of charas powder was seized from him.
In Chadoora, police apprehended a drug peddler near Degree College Chadoora. The suspect, identified as Mohammad Sahil Sheikh, son of Mohammad Himat Sheikh of Kolkata (currently residing in Chadoora), was found with approximately 4.96 grams of heroin.
A police team from PS Tral arrested Ashiq Hussain Bhat, son of Gh. Mohammad Bhat of Ratsuna Tral. During searches, 50 grams of charas and 125 grams of charas-like substance were recovered from his possession.
Cases have been registered in connection with these incidents, and investigations are ongoing.
