SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Showkat Mir Monday said Omar Abdullah government is placing sustained emphasis on the comprehensive development of the Tral region, ensuring that the constituency receives due attention.
He made these comments while interacting with a delegation of youth from Tral at the party headquarters. The delegation apprised him of various issues and challenges confronting the region, particularly those impacting the youth, and called for enhanced developmental focus.
Addressing the gathering Showkat Mir highlighted that the Chief Minister has recently approved the establishment of a mini-secretariat in Tral, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening administrative outreach and public service delivery. He further noted that Tral holds immense potential as a tourist destination, and the government is determined to harness its natural and cultural resources to position it prominently on the tourism map.
He emphasized that over the past one and a half years, there has been no shortfall in the allocation of funds for the constituency, reflecting a consistent and equitable approach to development.
He reiterated that the party’s objective extends beyond attaining political power, focusing instead on utilizing governance as a means to serve the people, address grievances, and rectify the injustices of the past decade. “Power is a responsibility to amplify the voices of the people and ensure their representation in legislative forums,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of youth engagement, he said that the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference has consistently championed youth participation in politics and decision-making processes, recognizing them as the future leaders of the nation.
Among others present on the occasion were District President Pulwama Mohammad Khalil Band, Provincial Youth President Mushtaq Mir, youth district President pulwama Naseer Ahmed and several senior party functionaries.
Meanwhile, on the directions of Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Advocate Shaukat Ahmad Mir, along with District President Srinagar Pir Afaq Ahmad, visited the Super Specialty Hospital, Shireen Bagh, to inquire about the health of party member Mohammad Amin Banday. They prayed for his speedy recovery and reviewed the medical care being provided to him.
