Says India has lost a trusted friend

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Sunday strongly condemned the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei, carried out by the United States and Israel. The Association described the killing as “immoral, unlawful, utterly reprehensible, and a grave assault on international law and global stability.”
In a statement issued here, National Convener of the Association Nasir Khuehami said the act constitutes a serious violation of Iran’s sovereignty and security, amounting to a direct trampling of the aims and principles of the United Nations Charter and the fundamental norms governing international relations. He stated that targeted assassinations of sovereign leaders represent a dangerous escalation that undermines the framework of global diplomacy and peace.
The Association expressed profound grief and heartfelt sorrow over what it described as the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, noting that his passing marks the end of an era defined by steadfastness, conviction, clarity of purpose, and unwavering resilience in the face of sustained external pressure and adversity.
“For decades, he endured wars, sanctions, isolation, covert operations, diplomatic hostility, and relentless political and military pressure without faltering,” Khuehami said. “He witnessed revolutions, prolonged regional conflicts, strategic encirclement, and systematic attempts to weaken Iran’s sovereignty, yet he remained unbowed. Even as uncertainty loomed and crises unfolded, he held his ground steady in belief, firm in purpose, and unwavering in resistance.”
Khuehami added that, “The sense of loss is deep, heavy, and collective. His presence reassured hearts in moments of fear, and his words carried the weight of conviction and determination.” This is not merely a national loss for Iran but a moment of collective grief that echoes across communities and societies that saw in him a symbol of endurance, sovereignty, faith, and moral resolve during turbulent times.
He asserted that, Through years of confrontation and challenge, he remained composed and resolute. His leadership reflected endurance in adversity and steadfastness in principle. His life leaves behind a complex and consequential legacy that will be remembered, debated, and reflected upon across generations.
The Association extended its deepest condolences to the people of Iran and to the wider Muslim Ummah, praying for patience, unity, strength, and resilience for all who grieve during this difficult time. Association further emphasized that the killing represents a blatant disregard for international norms and a destabilizing act with far-reaching geopolitical consequences. “Such actions erode trust between nations, inflame regional tensions, and endanger civilian populations. The path of unilateral aggression and targeted elimination cannot replace diplomacy and lawful international engagement,” Khuehami stated.
He also noted that Ayatollah Khamenei was regarded as a trusted friend of India, under whose tenure India and Iran maintained long-standing civilizational, cultural, and strategic ties. “India, too, has lost a trusted friend. The historical bonds between the two nations rooted in shared heritage, economic cooperation, and regional connectivity were strengthened during his leadership,” he added.
