Ganderbal
Despite challenging conditions, police teams on the ground at Gund and Sonamarg have been working tirelessly to assist stranded tourists and locals. Their efforts include vehicle evacuations from deep snow, facilitating safe movement, and providing on-spot help to vulnerable commuters. The swift response has been highly appreciated by both tourists and residents, reflecting the force’s dedication to ensuring safety beyond law enforcement. Authorities urge travelers to exercise caution, adhere to travel advisories, and follow safety protocols while traveling in such weather.
Shopian and Kulgam
Across Shopian and Kulgam, police have been relentlessly working to rescue residents and commuters caught in the snow. Notably, in Shopian, police responded promptly to a COPD patient in need of oxygen, arranging and delivering an oxygen cylinder from SDH Shopian to the patient’s residence at Bon Bazar. Additionally, they assisted in transporting a stranded patient to the hospital for timely medical care.
In Kulgam, police received a distress call about a pregnant woman in Rangtraji (Widkhud) Devsar experiencing severe pain. A police team led by SHO PS Devsar evacuated her on foot and ensured she reached the PHC for emergency treatment. The family members expressed gratitude for the prompt and effective response.
Kulgam
In another act of compassion, police responded to a distress call from Uppermunda, Qazigund, where a woman and her newborn baby were stranded due to heavy snowfall and slippery roads at Chango Crossing. Under the guidance of SSP Kulgam Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary and supervision of IC PP Jawahar Tunnel, police personnel on foot safely evacuated the mother and infant to their home in Uppermunda Gujjar Basti. The family members thanked the police for their swift and dedicated assistance during a critical moment.
Kargil
In Kargil, police personnel also extended help to stranded tourists and residents, ensuring their safety and facilitating their movement in the challenging weather conditions.
