SRINAGAR: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology of Kashmir held an interaction session on the co-creation of E-Marketing Provisions at Sallar, Anantnag. The daylong interaction held under the MeitY, GoI sponsored project.
The interaction session, in which experts, farmers, traders and other stakeholders participated, was organised by SKUAST-K’s Institute of Business, Policy and Research (IBPR), in collaboration with Extension & Research Station (E&RS), under the MeitY, GoI sponsored project.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Manzoor A Ganai, Head, E&RS, Sallar brougth out the vision of the centre on the development of walnut farming system in the valley. He said the digital marketing provisions have increased relevance in connecting farmers, traders, FPOs, and other market actors across the country to ensure better returns.
Prof Sajad H. Baba, PI, MeitY project, SKUAST-K in his detailed deliberation unveiled the untapped potential of Walnut Fruit in the valley and brought out its huge competitiveness and export potential. He informed participants how SKUAST-K, in partnership with CDAC Kolkata, aims to develop an Electronic Ecosystem including Stakeholder Information System, Real-time Decision Support System and E-Marketing System to facilitate seamless stakeholder connect and trade of this important fruit. Participants were informed about the recent intiatives taken by SKUAST-K in quality certification, branding, etc. Prof. Baba outlined the roadmap for on-ground deployment of AI-based tools and the critical role of farmers, traders, FPOs, and other stakeholders in this process.
Dr M Ashraf Ahangar, Subject Expert, E&RS, Sallar gave an overview of the Walnut ecology of the District and moderated the event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks extended to the Head of the Station, Subject Matter Experts, and all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions.
