Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in connection with a job scam, alleging fraudulent practices involving fake appointment orders.
The chargesheet, submitted before the court of Passenger Tax, Sub-Registrar Srinagar, names two accused individuals — Mohd Ashraf Sheikh and Aijaz-ul-Rehman Manroo.
The case, registered as FIR No. 50/2023 under Sections 420, 468, 471, and 120-B of the RPC, was initiated after a complaint from victims claiming they were deceived with false promises of jobs in J&K Bank, the CBK said in a statement issued here, adding that the accused allegedly collected large sums of money from the complainants under false pretenses.
Investigation revealed that the accused provided forged appointment orders, inducing victims to part with their money. Evidence, including documents, witness statements, and forensic reports, confirmed their involvement in the scam, the statement said.
The EOW said it is committed to cracking down on financial frauds and ensuring justice for victims.
