SRINAGAR: Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board & Minister of State Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi presided over the UMEED (Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development) Portal review meeting of the Ministry of Minority Affairs for Jammu Division.

The meeting was attended by Special Officer Waqf J&K, Administrative Officers and Executive Officers of Jammu Division. Addressing the meeting, Dr Andrabi said that this centralised digital platform for real-time uploading, verification and monitoring of Waqf properties is a very effective step towards transparency of Waqf assets throughout the country.

“This digital platform ascertains accountability with public participation in the Waqf system. It ensures better responsiveness, transparent leasing through e-governance tools. This portal facilitates geo-tagging of all Waqf properties,” she said.

Dr Darakhshan said that in Jammu and Kashmir, these reformative steps have been taken much earlier throughout J&K. “We keep on reviewing our performances and management system,” she said.

Dr Andrabi was accorded a warm welcome on her arrival at Jammu.
