Srinagar: In a decisive crackdown against drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has attached multiple properties belonging to notorious drug peddlers in Awantipora and Srinagar, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics. These actions aim to dismantle the drug network and curb the menace that threatens society.
Properties attached in Awantipora
The police attached two residential houses valued at approximately ₹18 lakhs belonging to Muzaffar Ahmad Shalla and Javid Ahmad Ganie. Both individuals are involved in multiple FIRs and are currently in judicial custody at District Jail Pulwama. The properties were identified as illegally acquired assets through proceeds of illicit narcotics trafficking during an enquiry led by SHO Police Station Pampore and supervised by SDPO Pampore. The attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Additionally, a residential house valued at around ₹73 lakhs belonging to Fareeda Akhter, a noted lady drug peddler from Larkipora, was also attached. The house was identified as an illegally acquired property obtained through drug trafficking activities. Fareeda Akhter is involved in multiple FIRs related to narcotics crimes.
Major property seized in Srinagar
In a significant move, the Police attached a residential property and land worth approximately ₹75 lakhs located at Kenihama, BK Pora, Nowgam. The property, including a double-storey house and 2.5 marlas of land (out of 15 marlas), is registered in the name of Mohammad Jaffar Ganie, father of Parwaiz Ahmad Ganie, who is lodged in District Jail Kathua under the Public Safety Act. Parwaiz is also named in FIR No. 128/2022 under Sections 8, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act.
The property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act following a thorough investigation and legal procedures, with approval from SAFEMA, New Delhi. The property owner is now legally restricted from selling or altering the property.
J&K Police remain committed to eradicating the drug menace and will continue to take strict action against those involved in narcotics trade. The police urge the public to support and cooperate in this ongoing mission to establish a drug-free society.
