The Illusion Of Liberation

Must read

There is a very thin line between freedom and slavery to stultitia

Many people intend to be liberals, free-minded and progressive, but in chasing that ideal, they get engaged in acts that turn them into slaves, the slaves of absurdity.

I just came across a video while scrolling through Facebook. There was this girl talking, though I can’t even begin to explain what she was trying to say[absolutely filthy]. I couldn’t resist, and curiosity pulled me into the comments section, so I went to see how others reacted to this so-called liberal expression.

The comments didn’t surprise me. People were literally advising others not even to consider “wifing” her up. And that’s when the question hit me

Was that woman truly enjoying her freedom? Or was she just fulfilling her duty as a slave to stupidity?

She didn’t seem empowered but devalued.

What starts as rebellion against norms ends up becoming a performance, one where the performers don’t even realise they are trapped in the illusion of freedom.

I have a sheer aversion to how some women present themselves on social media today and post anything. And by “anything,” I mean “anything”— from openly discussing intimate acts, to normalising pornography, to boasting about body count as if it’s a badge of honour. It is portrayed as boldness. Isn’t it a form of dehumanisation or a distortion of both freedom and femininity?

Even podcasts are being recorded where women degrade themselves. And if you dare question it, you are immediately labelled a misogynist, a backwards thinker, a criminal of morality.

So are these women truly liberated, or are they slaves to absurdity? Are they rebels or performers in a circus?

After doing all of that then the same women complain that men treat us like walking sex objects.

But isn’t that exactly how they have chosen to present themselves? Isn’t this the height of hypocrisy? How can you demand respect while discarding the dignity that commands it?

Yet somehow, society and even the law often stay silent about self-destructive behaviour promoted as empowerment.

Who is rainwashing the youth? Why are we so quick to believe that rejecting modesty is the only path to modernity?

Since when did decency become oppression and vulgarity become empowerment?

Feminists, I am not starting a gender war over here; this isn’t supposed to be a war between genders but a rebellion against the menace of misunderstanding freedom. Women aren’t the only victims of stultitia. There are men and even kids trapped in it, too. Maybe you and I as well.

Men should, without excuse, stop being womanisers. Men also think of themselves as dominators and roam around with cigarettes in their hands and harass women. Nowadays, men have forgotten that they are the protectors and providers. Anyway, it’s also the responsibility of a woman to be mindful rather than engaging in public behaviours that may invite objectification rather than respect. I’m not imposing any religious rule on anyone. You don’t need to follow a particular faith to understand that glorifying vulgarity leads nowhere. Whether you are a Muslim, Christian, or Jew, no religion promotes indecency.

Freedom isn’t the right to do whatever you want, but it’s the wisdom to choose what’s worth doing. You don’t have to post filth to go viral. Post something meaningful, something that earns you respect and lasting value. You don’t want to be stared at or laughed at, right? No one wants to be abandoned, especially in old age. A woman needs a decent man to build a family, but to receive that kind of man, she must be highly valued, and that begins with being decent herself [And vice-versa]. Only then can she hope for a healthy, lasting family in the end.

If you believe modesty is weakness and dignity is outdated, then all the best because you are marching straight toward your own collapse. Rejecting modesty isn’t freedom. It never will be. And women’s or Men’s worth isn’t tied to modesty only. There are other factors involved.

Unfortunately, in today’s world, stultitia wears makeup and hides behind the word “freedom.” And those who trade dignity for attention will soon find themselves drowning in depression, loneliness, and harsh judgment.

Yes, it’s a good thing that we have access to social media. We can watch informative and inspiring content. But sadly, every scroll brings up something filthy, videos of men and women degrading themselves for views. This is why children should avoid social media and visit libraries instead. But even libraries are disappearing now. Where are we heading?

Anyway, this was just to give you some awareness. And after all, I believe that a hint is enough for the wise.

Before you post, before you speak, before you choose to imitate a trend, ask yourself, “What am I doing? Why am I doing it? Am I truly free or just another slave to stupidity?”
