Participates in discussion on cleanliness campaign led by SMC Commissioner
SRINAGAR: Sadia Tariq, an international Wushu gold medalist and three-time national champion, participated in an enlightening discussion led by Dr. Owais, the Commissioner of the Jammu & Kashmir Municipal Corporation. The session brought together athletes, social media influencers, and community members to address the urgent need for active participation in cleanliness efforts throughout Kashmir.
During the session, which emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship, Sadia encouraged her peers and the youth of Kashmir to engage directly in cleanliness campaigns. “The people of Kashmir should take part in cleanliness themselves so that environmental issues can be resolved,” she said.
Dr. Owais commended the rapid growth of Wushu in Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting its positive influence on combatting drug-related issues among youth, which he attributed largely to the efforts of Coach Kuldeep Handoo. “Sports can serve as a powerful tool for social change, and Wushu’s rise in popularity is a testament to that,” he remarked.
Sadia shared her insights on how young people can be powerful advocates for environmental protection. She suggested that by raising awareness and promoting responsible habits, the younger generation can play a significant part in fostering a cleaner and greener future for Jammu and Kashmir.
