Jammu: The Government has introduced the “Information of Arrested Persons Rules, 2025,” under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
The new rules mandate police officers to immediately inform the relatives or nominated individuals of an arrested person about the arrest and the place of detention. This communication can be made through mobile, social media, email, or physical means.
Additionally, police stations are required to maintain a designated register to record detailed entries related to arrests.
These measures aim to ensure transparency and accountability in the arrest process, fostering trust and timely communication between authorities and citizens.
