Police solve theft case in Gbl, 4 accused arrested

GANDERBAL: Police in Ganderbal solved a theft case by arresting four accused persons involved in the commission of the crime.
Police Station Kangan received a written complaint on the 28th of May 2024 regarding cattle theft at Kachnambal Wudar Kangan. On receipt of this complaint, a case FIR No 41/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kangan and an investigation was started, police said in a statement.
During the investigation, a special team headed by SHO PS Kangan which was constituted on the directions of SSP Ganderbal apprehended four suspected persons, the statement said, adding, “They have been identified as Imran Ahmad Shah son of Ajaz Ah Shah resident of UP A/P Panzinara, Altaf Ahmad Sheikh son of Ab Wahab Sheikh resident of Gantmula Baramulla, Mohd Lateef Pathan son of Ali Mohd Pathan resident of Mujpathri Budgam & a Juvenile (name withheld) resident of Qamarwari Srinagar.”
During questioning, they confessed their involvement in the commission of crime. They further disclosed that they had sold the cattle to a butcher identified as Yaqoob Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Maqbool Wani resident of Hajin Sonawari. All the accused persons were arrested and shifted to the Police Station where they remain in custody besides, the juvenile was lodged in a juvenile home in Harwan Srinagar.
Moreover, two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK06B0172 & JK05L5975 which were used in the commission of the crime were also seized, police said.
