Pulwama Journalist Association holds meeting, highlights achievements, future goals

PULWAMA: The Pulwama Journalist Association (PJA) held its much-anticipated meeting on Friday here, with members from across the district gathering to discuss pressing issues and share insights.
The meeting began with a welcome address by the President, Shah Irshad ul Haq Qadri, who highlighted the achievements of the association over the past year, including successful advocacy for press freedom, increased training opportunities for journalists, and enhanced collaboration with other media organizations.
“The Pulwama Journalist Association remains committed to advocating for the rights of journalists and promoting ethical journalism,” Qadri asserted.
Following the address, the floor was opened for discussion. Key topics included ways to combat misinformation, and the role of digital media in contemporary journalism were discussed. Members engaged in a lively and constructive debate, sharing their experiences and proposing innovative solutions to the challenges faced by journalists today.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the Shabnam Fayaz, who appreciated the efforts of all members and expressed optimism about future initiatives planned by the association.
Besides, President, General Secretary Younis Khaliq, Spokesperson Umar Mukhtar, Treasurer Akhtar Abbas and Publicity Secretary Bashir Ahmad Wani, Tariq Dar were present in the meeting.
The other members of the organisation who were present were Shuja Sultan, Syed Aadil Mushtaq, Shabir Yousaf, Muzamil Rajab, Akhter Abbas, Burhan Bashir, Tariq Ahmad Dar, Aqeel Mukhtar, Nasir Mushtaq.
The Pulwama Journalist Association (PJA) is a professional organization dedicated to supporting journalists in Pulwama. Founded in 2018, the PJA advocates for press freedom provides training and resources for its members, and works to substitute ethical standards in journalism.
