Srinagar: Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentarian, Mian Altaf on Wednesday called on Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and discussed several issues including construction and maintenance of roads along the border areas of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch that are taken care by BEACON and BRO.
In an official statement, Mian Altaf said that he discussed the slow pace of work on the vital 240-kilometre Jammu-Poonch highway taken up by Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
The strategic importance of Rajouri-Thanamandi-Bafliaz road was also discussed. Altaf said that the road connects Srinagar and Jammu with border districts, however, the road is in a battered condition, said the official statement.
“Nowshehra Rajouri road stretch, Rajouri- Manjakot and Rajouri-Thanamandi roads are also in bad condition and need immediate maintenance and up-gradation by the concerned agencies.
“The Union Defence minister listened to the issues and while getting them noted assured for their redressal ” the statement added.
