JKTF Zone Pampore holds meeting to address educational challenges, honor retiring teachers

Zonal President emphasizes student welfare, discusses edu issues, plans farewell for retiring teachers

PAMPORE: The Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) Zone Pampore conducted a meeting under the chairmanship of Zonal President Bilal Ahmad Wani in Pampore Tehsil.
Various former members, including Ex-State President Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Ex-Provincial Member Peer Altaf, and Mohammad Subhan, attended the meeting, alongside a large gathering of teachers/masters and office bearers from the Pampore zone, gracing the occasion.
In the meeting, several points were discussed to enhance the welfare of the teaching community, schools, and students, a JKTF spokesman told Kashmir Reader.
Zonal President Bilal Ahmad Wani emphasized the importance of unity among the teaching community to strengthen the JKTF platform, urging them to prioritize students in classrooms and provide them with a conducive learning environment and modern teaching facilities. He commended the teachers of Zone Pampore for their consistent dedication, passion, and commitment to nurturing young minds and shaping the future of the nation.
Acknowledging the crucial role played by teachers in imparting knowledge, instilling values, and empowering students to become responsible citizens and leaders of tomorrow.
Various issues concerning the current education scenario were discussed, including the scarcity of textbooks, enrollment of new students, staff shortages in certain schools, implementation of a holistic progress card, and other similar issues within the zone, the spokesperson said.
The SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) programme was discussed, during which the zonal president elaborated on the importance of awareness and the significance of voting for democracy.
Additionally, a discussion was held regarding the farewell function for two esteemed teachers of Zone Pampore, Mohammad Yousuf Kuchay (Spokesman JKTF Pampore) and Mushtaq Ahmad, a teacher at BPS Nagbal, who is set to retire on April 30, 2024. It was decided that a grand farewell function would be organized for both teachers on the same day.
A heartfelt prayer was offered for the students, men, and women who lost their lives in a recent boat capsize incident in Gandbal Batwara, Srinagar. “Additionally, we mourned the loss of two in-service teaching officials from our zone who passed away after battling prolonged illnesses last month,” the spokesperson said, adding, “In response, a committee was formed to provide a report for offering one-time financial assistance to the families of the two deceased teaching officials from our zone and the affected students of the Gandbal boat incident.”
The meeting concluded with an appeal from Mohammad Amin Bhat, District Secretary of JKTF Pulwama, urging everyone to unite at every level for the welfare of teachers, students, and society. Prayers were then offered in favour of those who lost their lives in the Gandbal Batwara incident and for those whose bodies are still missing in the River Jhelum.
Zonal President Bilal Ahmad Wani and the entire teaching fraternity of the zone extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls, as well as patience and courage for the bereaved families of Gandbal, Srinagar, the spokesperson said.
