International Delhi Public School Society New Delhi launches operations in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The International Delhi Public School (IDPS) Society has formally announced its arrival in Kashmir by taking over the control of the IDPS School at Zakura, previously managed by the Chowdhary Education Trust run by the Hattrick group.
The IDPS School was earlier a franchise of the IDPS Society. However, the Society has now fully taken over the reins of the school, which will be directly run and managed by IDPS New Delhi going forward.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Narayan Kumar Karan, President of the International Delhi Public School Society said, “The launching of this international school in the Kashmir Valley is a significant development. This is the Valley’s first school that will be directly run and managed by the IDPS Society based in New Delhi.”
IDPS Society currently operates over 110 schools across India and 10 schools abroad. By taking complete control of the Zakura campus, the Society aims to bring its experience and expertise in providing quality education to students in Kashmir.
“The move is expected to provide a major boost to the education sector in the Valley. IDPS is known for its focus on holistic development, advanced teaching methodologies, and world-class infrastructure,” Dr Karan said.
With the IDPS Society’s direct involvement, the Zakura school is poised to undergo significant upgrades in terms of faculty, facilities, and educational resources in the coming months.
The Society’s entry into the Kashmir education market is seen as a positive step towards providing more quality education options for students in the Valley.
SMF Andrabi, Director Operations IDPS Kashmir and Ladakh, stated, “We are focused on improving the education standards in Kashmir and providing the best possible education to the students in the Valley.”
Showkat Chowdhary, Chairman, Chowdhary Group, said, “In 2014, we sowed a seed, and now after 10 years, I am happy that the school is going into safe hands by being handed over to the IDPS Society.”
The IDPS also announced admissions for the 2024-25 academic year on the occasion. The formal launching event was attended by people from various walks of life, reflecting the keen interest in the Society’s entry into the Kashmir education sector.
