DG Rural Sanitation conducts district-wise review of departmental activities

JAMMU: Director General Rural Sanitation, Jammu and Kashmir, Anoo Malhotra, presided over a comprehensive district-wise review meeting on Wednesday. Assistant Commissioner Panchayats (ACPs) of all the districts participated in the meeting. The meeting focused on underlining the collaborative approach towards achieving the mission’s objectives in a stipulated time.
The DG emphasized the pivotal role each district plays in the Swachh Bharat Mission- Grameen, urging ACPs to intensify their efforts to promote sanitation and hygiene at the grassroots level. The Director General meticulously analyzed the progress of ongoing initiatives, highlighting successful practices and addressing challenges faced by different districts.
The main thrust was laid on the implementation of the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP), inputs on draft on Operation and Maintenance (O&M) policy, IEC initiatives taken by the directorate from time to time and its replication at District level, the status of process of land for developing Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTP), identification of Legacy waste sites and initiatives to develop them, functionality status of Segregation sheds and PWMUs, and self-certification under SGLR.
Ms. Malhotra stressed for strategic roadmap for the upcoming phases of the SBM-G, emphasizing the need for creative solutions to address unique challenges in each district.
During the interactive session, ACPs shared their experiences, providing insights into the ground-level implementation of the mission.
Director General encouraged ACPs to foster community involvement and ownership of the mission, highlighting the role of awareness campaigns and education in sustaining behavioral change.
The meeting concluded with a sense of shared commitment, as Ms. Malhotra expressed confidence in the collective efforts to elevate the SBM-G to new heights in Jammu and Kashmir.
