Three Athletes from Pampore shine in National Arnis Championship

J&K secures top position, wins 31 gold medals

Pampore: In a commendable display of skill and determination, three athletes from Saffron town Pampore made their mark at the National Arnis Championship held in Kurukshetra, Haryana. The Championship was organized by the Arnis Sports Association Haryana.
Team Jammu and Kashmir clinched the first position at the championship that concluded on Monday.
The three-day competition, taking place from January 13 to 15, 2024, witnessed participation from over 15 states across the country.
“Shahzaib Shabir, the resident of Frestabal Pampore, clinched the gold medal, showcasing his prowess in arnis. Musaib Reyaz, hailing from Meebagh Pampore, also secured a gold medal, proving the depth of talent in Pampore. Adding to the glory, Hadiya Mushtaq, resident of Namblabal Pampore, secured a gold medal, contributing to the collective success of the region,” General Secretary Arnis Association Shabir Ahmad Mir told Kashmir Reader.
The National Arnis Championship 2023-24 saw a total of 45 players from Jammu and Kashmir, with ten athletes representing Pulwama district including three from Saffron town Pampore. The event not only highlighted the individual achievements of these athletes but also showcased the competitive spirit and dedication present in the arnis community.
The achievements of Shahzaib Shabir, Musaib Reyaz, and Hadiya Mushtaq not only underscore their excellence but also shine a spotlight on Saffron Town Pampore’s burgeoning talent in the field of arnis.
Shabir proudly declared that the region clinched the top spot in the recently concluded three-day championship. The exceptional performance by Team Jammu and Kashmir resulted in a remarkable haul of 31 gold medals, showcasing their prowess in the competition.
“Congratulations to these athletes for bringing honour to their town and J&K UT on the national stage,” he said.
