Pulwama: In a resolute move against illegal mining, the Geology and Mining Department in Pulwama executed surprise nighttime raids, confiscating numerous heavy machines and vehicles engaged in unauthorized mineral extraction and transportation. Led by District Mining Officer Er Mohammad Manzoor, the team targeted locations in Khrew Zantrag, Pampore, Lassipora, and Charsoo Awantipora areas.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a total of 7 vehicles, including three chain-type machines and four other vehicles involved in illegal mining and mineral transportation during the night. Further successes were reported with the seizure of two additional chain-type machines at Khrew Zantrag areas of Pampore.
The Geology and Mining team intensified its crackdown, confiscating five L&T machines within 24 hours, all engaged in unauthorized mineral extraction at Khrew Zantrag in Pampore Tehsil. The seized vehicles are now under custody.
Violators will face substantial penalties as authorities continue their stringent measures against illegal mining practices. District Mining Officer (DMO) Geology and Mining Pulwama, Engineer Mohammad Manzoor, highlighted their ongoing efforts in recent months, resulting in the seizure of numerous vehicles and machines used in illegal mining operations, with significant fines imposed on violators.
He urged the public to source materials from legal channels and warned of severe penalties for individuals involved in illegal mining. The crackdown persists in various areas of Pulwama, including Pampore and Awantipora, emphasizing the authorities’ commitment to preserving natural resources and ensuring compliance with legal procedures in mining activities.
DMO Pulwama, Er Mohammad Manzoor, assured that his team remains on high alert to monitor illegal mining in the district, even in challenging weather conditions. He pledged swift actions against violators, employing a fast-track system to address all illegal mining cases according to regulations.
