Warns strict action against violators
Bandipora: The Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police, Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh on Tuesday toured Bandipora to review traffic management in the district. The SSP was accompanied by DySP traffic and several other officers.
During the visit, SSP Singh took a detailed review of the traffic scenario in the district and directed the subordinates to ensure the smooth functioning of the traffic in the town. He listed the issues of transporters and assured them that their issues would be redressed.
He said that a special drive was conducted to instill awareness among the people and deter the traffic violators from breaching the set rules. The drive was conducted against violators, particularly triple riders, stunt bikers and driving by minors, which are three big challenges before Traffic Police at the moment, he said.
SSP Traffic along with SO and Traffic Cops booked hundreds of violators, who were flouting the rules. On this occasion, several people who are associated with the transport also apprised the SSP traffic, and the senior officer gave them a patient hearing.
The officer on the occasion also said that to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians, the Traffic Police shall take stringent actions against incidents of rash driving and other such traffic violations.
On this occasion, motorists are advised to obey and follow traffic rules and regulations and ensure that they drive and observe prescribed speed limits. “Don’t indulge in racing or competition with other vehicles, don’t use a mobile phone while driving, don’t play loud music, and don’t use pressure or musical horns,” he said.
The two-wheeler riders are advised to wear crash helmets and avoid triple riding, besides not indulging in reckless, dangerous, and zig-zag driving.
The SSP while walking through the market and got cleared all the footpaths across the market occupied by shopkeepers. He warned of strict action against occupied paths within the market.
