Officers highlight ‘invaluable’ contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
Awantipora: The Police District Awantipora marked the culmination of the Police Flag Week with a vibrant celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, also known as National Unity Day. The main event unfolded at the District Police Lines Awantipora, where a large gathering of police personnel took a solemn pledge for the unity, integrity, and security of the nation, reiterating their dedication to the unification of the country.
In conjunction with the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas observance, a spirited “Run for Unity” event was organized by the Police District Awantipora. Nearly 200 youth from different age groups participated in the run, which kicked off from Noorpora Crossing and culminated at T-Chowk DPL Awantipora. The event was graced by the presence of SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, Addl. DC Awantipora Zaffar Husson Shawl, SP DAR Awantipora Hilal Khaliq, Tehsildar Awantipora Shakeel Ahmad, SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti, and other officers from the Civil and Police Administration. Participants were lauded, encouraged, and commended by the officials, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and enthusiasm.
Following the run, a prize distribution ceremony took place, with cash rewards awarded to the first five winners and appreciation certificates presented to the first 60 participants. Refreshments were provided to all the participants, enhancing the celebratory spirit of the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar highlighted the invaluable contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, revered as the Iron Man of India, in the nation’s freedom struggle and the process of India’s unification. He emphasized the importance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas as a tribute to Patel’s legacy, underscoring the significance of safeguarding India’s internal security and unity. SSP Awantipora also expressed his appreciation for the young participants’ enthusiasm, patriotism, and competitive spirit. He encouraged them to channel their energy positively through sports activities like marathons, fostering a wave of positivity while steering clear of negative influences.
The event not only celebrated the memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel but also underscored the unifying power of sports, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds in the spirit of national unity and solidarity.
