Wildlife experts rescue massive snake from house in Panthacowk

Pampore: Wildlife experts from the Wildlife Department Range Khrew Pampore conducted a swift operation to rescue a 5-6 foot long snake from a residential house in the Zawoora Panthachowk area on the outskirts of Srinagar.
The incident unfolded late on Saturday evening, causing panic among the household members who discovered the snake in their bathroom. An alarm was raised, prompting neighbors to assemble and call the officials from the nearby Wildlife Department Range Khrew.
Responding promptly to the distress call from Zawoora, the wildlife department experts, along with casual laborers, reached the location within 15 minutes. They expertly captured the snake, ensuring the safety of both the household members and neighbors.
Relieved household members expressed their gratitude towards the Wildlife Department Range Khrew for their prompt and efficient response. Following the successful rescue operation, the snake was released back into its natural habitat.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Block Officer of the Wildlife Department Range Khrew, Abdul Hameed, explained that they received a call about a snake hiding in a bathroom in Zawoora. He, along with a team of casual laborers, promptly mobilized and rescued the 5-6 foot snake, which had initially been seen roaming in the rooms before entering the bathroom. The snake was found hiding behind a washing machine. Hameed emphasized that their department is available round the clock and urged residents to report any wild animal sightings immediately.
Hameed also shared that their department recently captured two black bears in the Zawoora and Khunmoh areas. He encouraged people to contact them day or night to prevent any harm, expressing gratitude to those who provide timely information.
The house owner, Gulzar Ahmad, recounted the terrifying experience, stating, “When my mother found a large snake in the bathroom, we were terrified, and the entire family was in a state of panic, not knowing what to do or how we would spend the night here. We immediately contacted the Wildlife Department’s Khrew range, and they arrived within 15 minutes. Their swift action not only saved us from a potentially dangerous situation but also restored our peace of mind. I express my deepest gratitude to the Wildlife Department for their immediate and effective response. We are truly thankful for their presence and expertise in ensuring the safety of our family.”
