Srinagar: Delhi Public School Srinagar emerged the victors in a basketball rolling trophy which was organised by Birla Open Minds International School, Pampore.
In the finals, DPS Srinagar put a dominant display of basketball, and speed to overwhelm the defense of their opponents. The final scoreline of 48-13 was an accurate representation of the sheer quality of team DPS. Fazal Khurshid and Muqtida of grade 10 from Delhi Public School, Srinagar were adjudged the most valuable player of the match and the best player of the tournament respectively.
The tourney hosted by Birla School, Pampore saw eight teams from the valley taking a shot at the glory. Eventually, DPS Srinagar had an undefeated streak, inflicting a heavy defeat (52 /25) on Tyndale Biscoe School in the semi-final.
Congratulating the winning team, Principal Shafaq Afshan said, “Our sporting excellence is now well recognised as it is well earned. I am pleased that no generation of students is allowing complacency to creep in in this regard. Congratulations to the winners.”
The Chairman Mr Vijay Dhar also congratulated the team and said, “At DPS Srinagar we place a great premium on hard work and teamwork. It appears the ethic has taken root, as our recent spate of victories in group sports and group events shows. Congratulations to the team.”
