Police arrest drug peddler with 5.3 kg Fukki in Pampore

Pampore: Police on Monday arrested a drug peddler and recovered 5.3 kilograms of Fukki from his possession in the Pampore area of police district Awantipora.
A police official told Kashmir Reader that a team from police station Pampore led by SHO Pampore Jazib Mohammad Bhat under the supervision of Sub Division Police Officer (SDPO) Pampore Krishan Rattan arrested one drug peddler at Khankahbagh area of the Saffron Town.
He identified the arrested drug peddler as Bilal Ahmad Bhat @ Bill Chuwtha, son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat, a resident of Khankahbagh.
“He was moving in suspicious circumstances in the area. During the search, 5 kg and 300 gram of Fukki was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” the official said.
He said a case FIR bearing registration number 103/2023 has been registered at Police Station Pampore under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).
Police have warned that persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with strictly as per the law. “We urge the general public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” he said.
The residents of Pampore have hailed the efforts of the police, especially SDPO Pampore and SHO Pampore to curb the drug menace.
