Meri Maati Mera Desh: Police, MEI Pampore organise prog highlighting role of freedom fighters

Pampore: Continuing with the campaign ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh-Mitti Ko Naman Veroon Ka Vandan’, Pampore Police in collaboration with Muslim Education Institute (MEI) organised a mega awareness programme at the school here in south Kashmir’s police district Awantipora on Friday.
On the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, police about 400 students participated in the event, police officials told Kashmir Reader.
SDPO Pampore Krishan Rattan was the chief while SHO Pampore Jazib Mohammad Bhat and Sub Inspector Muneer Ahmad were the guests of honour. Principal Tariq Ahmad Bhat and Principal Girls Wing Zeenat Kaunsar, teachers and other staff members were present on the occasion.
The event began with the singing of the national anthem that resonated on the school premises.
The students showed their talent and presented speeches about freedom fighters and national heroes. They students also sang “Sare Jahan Se Acha Hindustan Hamara”, a poem written by Dr Sir Mohammad Iqbal.
SDPO Pampore Krishan Rattan spoke about freedom fighters of the country and urged students to take good lessons from biographies of national heroes and contribute to nation-building.
He stressed the students to study wholeheartedly and not indulge in anti-social activities like drug menace and anti-national activities like terrorism.
“You are the future of our society. You are our future doctors, engineers and nation builders so develop manners that can make you good citizens,” he said, adding, “We have to stand up against the drug menace in Saffron Town Pampore.”
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Principal MEI Tariq Ahmad Bhat said that students organised a great programme to celebrate ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’.
“We would always support such efforts of the administration and would always be supported by staff and students,” he said.
At the end of the event, SDPO distributed prizes among the students who presented speeches and participated in the chorus.
