Thousands participate in Tiranga Rally at Awantipora to celebrate Meri Maati Mera Desh

Awantipora: Thousands of people participated in the mega Tiranga rally organised by District Administration Pulwama in collaboration with police district Awantipora in view of the 76th Independence Day celebrations. The rally was held to promote the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
To celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the banner of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, over 30,000 people including all stakeholders witnessed the rally, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr Basharat Qayoom, SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, ADC Awantipora Zaffar Husson Shawl,ADC Tral Sajid Yahya Naqash, DySP DAR Hilal Khaliq Bhat, SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti, Tehsildar Awantipora Shakeel Ahmad, Tehsildar Pampore Zuber Ahmad Bhat along with other senior police and security officers led the Tiranga rally.
The Sub-Divisional Administration Awantipora and Tral coordinated the event in which the officers and staff from the administration participated.
The students from different colleges and other educational institutions along with their teachers from the Pulwama district participated in the grand rally, besides senior citizens, PRIs and locals.
The rally started from the District Police Lines (DPL) Awantipora and passed through old Srinagar-Jammu national highway Jawbehara and main town Awantipora and culminated at Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) Awantipora.
The participants, officials, officers and students were carrying the national flag and were enthusiastic about their participation in the grand rally.
Talking to media persons, the DC Pulwama said, “The idea behind the campaign of Meri Maati Mera Desh in general and Tiranga Yatra in particular, is to instill the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of people and reminisce the journey of India and those who have contributed towards creating this great nation.”
He said that in connection with the ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign, multiple events are being organised in the district and many more Tiranga rallies will be held in the coming days. He informed that on August 12, one mega Tiranga rally is scheduled at DPL Pulwama.
He also congratulated the people of the district for their enthusiasm and commitment and urged them to participate wholeheartedly in the upcoming events of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ programme.
