Awareness prog on Hepatitis held at GDC Pampore

Pampore: In continuation with the observation of World Hepatitis Day 2023, an awareness programme on hepatitis was organised by the Government Degree College Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
The Department of Zoology and Chemistry in collaboration with IQAC, NSS and Sub District Hospital Pampore organized an awareness programme on Hepatitis: Causes, Symptoms and Cure under mission life, at the conference hall of the college.
The proceedings of the programme were carried out under the supervision of Principal GDC Pampore, Prof. Dr. Huda Galzai to commemorate the World Hepatitis Day, officials told Kashmir Reader.
World Hepatitis Day is observed each year on 28 July to raise awareness of viral hepatitis. Medical Officer, SDH Pampore Dr Sheikh Zuhaib was the guest speaker on this occasion, GDC officials told Kashmir Reader.
The programme started with the introductory remarks regarding the rationale and importance of World Hepatitis Day, by the Programme Coordinator, Prof. Samina Yesvi. She introduced the guest speaker to the audience and gave a brief overview of the rationale of the programme.
Afterwards in her inaugural speech, Prof. Galzai formally welcomed the guest speaker and discussed the need for the participation of students in such Programmes.
Later on, the guest speaker, Dr Sheikh Zuhaib, addressed a large gathering of students and faculty members who gave a patient hearing to his talk.
Dr Sheikh Zuhaib started his address by presenting a detailed overview of Hepatitis, and its prevalence, globally, nationally as well as locally. He presented the various symptoms that are developed during this disease including abdominal pain and dark urine etc.
Dr Zuhaib presented a detailed overview of the acute and chronic cases of hepatitis. He then discussed the recovery and treatment options available for hepatitis. This was followed by a question-answer session wherein students and faculty posed a number of questions to the expert speaker.
All questions were amicably answered by the guest speaker. The program ended with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Shah Lateef, Coordinator IQAC.
