SRINAGAR: Hoor Fatima, the remarkable 3-year-old chess prodigy, has etched her name in history as the youngest champion of the prestigious 2nd Kashmir Open International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament. The tournament, organized by The Kashmir Chess Club and held at the Indoor Sports Complex, Polo Ground in Srinagar (J&K), commenced on June 10 and concluded on Thursday.
With participation from 120 players hailing from various parts of India, including an international player from Russia, Hoor’s triumph is nothing short of extraordinary. Her tenacity propelled her to claim the coveted title in this five-day chess tournament.

The tournament is being conducted as per FédérationInternationale des Échecs(FIDE) laws of Chess and the FIDE SwissSystem with nine rounds. Khalid Amin Gojwari is the tournament director and Comrade Parvez was the Chief Organizer of the tournament and is also the Secretary – The Kashmir Chess Club, Srinagar and FA Pavan K. Rathi is the Chief Arbiter.
