Pampore wins 7 medals in first National Kun Bokator Championship

Pampore: Martial Arts Council Pampore won 7 medals including 3 Gold 1 Silver and 3 Bronze in the first National Kun Bokator Championship which was held at Indoor Stadium Srinagar recently. Kun Bokator is a form of martial art from Cambodia.
The championship was organised by the Kun Bokator Federation of India. Around 250 players from 14 states of the country were participating in the game.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that a referee seminar was held before the championship in which coach Sajad Ahmad Butt qualified with first grade. Two coaches, Tara and Polpin, from Cambodia, were also present in this seminar and national championship.
“It is a proud moment for the martial arts council Pampore which won 7 medals in this championship,” Sajad Ahmad Bhat, who won Gold in masters artistic category, told Kashmir Reader.
The other two players who won gold medals in the event are Arbeena Riyaz and Muqadus Muskan while Sana Riyaz won the Silver medal. Zehran Ashiq, Anshera Mushtaq and Soliha Binti Lateef won Bronze medals in the fighting.
“It is a big achievement for Jammu and Kashmir and district Pulwama,” coach Sajad Bhat said while congratulating all the players.
“There was a coach referee seminar from 1 to 4 June in which two Cambodian coaches explained the various techniques of the game,” Bhat said, adding that he qualified with first grade.
