290 Hajj pilgrims vaccinated at SDH Pampore

PAMPORE: A vaccination programme for Hajj Pilgrims from Pampore, Kakapora and Awantipora tehsils of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district was held at Sub District Hospital Pampore here on Friday.
The vaccination is done as a precautionary measure to protect pilgrims from any contagious disease during the annual pilgrimage.
BMO Pampore Dr Asima Nazir, RMO Dr Bilal Ahmad, Noman Hussain Andrabi and other health workers were present on the occasion.
While interacting with the Hajj pilgrims, the BMO and the RMO congratulated them for being selected for the holy Hajj and urged them to pray for the well-being and prosperity of the people.
The health officials told Kashmir Reader that 290 Hajj pilgrims were given the vaccination after a proper check-up. They, however, said that many pilgrims failed to report at the facility.
The pilgrims lauded the arrangements and appreciated the efforts of the administration of Sub District Hospital Pampore.
Registererd Medical Officer SDH Pampore Dr Bilal Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that they have a target of vaccinating 350 Hajj pilgrims. “Today, we vaccinated around 290 pilgrims,” he said.
He said that for the convenience of Hajj pilgrims, they had set up a registration counter after which their general check-up is done before vaccination.
The officer said that vaccination for Hajj pilgrims will continue on Saturday and will be held on Monday so that no one is left out. “The vaccination for Hajj pilgrims from Kakapora, Parigam, Awantipora, Lajoora, Lathpora, Ladhoo, Khrew, Shaar, Wuyan and Pampore town will be done at Sub District Hospital Pampore,” he said.
The doctors at the SDH said that vaccination for those on the waiting list will be done after vaccines for them are received at the hospital.
A vaccination schedule for pilgrims of Pulwama district was announced by the district administration Pulwama according to which the pilgrims hailing from Pulwama, Shahoora and Litter blocks were given the vaccination at CMO, BMO office Pulwama and the pilgrims from Tehsil Pampore, Kakapora and Awantipora were given the vaccination at BMO office Sub District Hospital Pampore on Friday.
Similarly, the pilgrims hailing from Tral and Aripal will be vaccinated at the BMO Office Sub District Hospital Tral on May 13. The pilgrims hailing from Rajpora will be vaccinated at the BMO Office Rajpora on May 13.
