Teachers training on school safety counsellors held at Pampore

PAMPORE, March 08: Chief Education Officer Pulwama organised a one-day orientation programme on School Safety Counsellors at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Pampore on Wednesday.

Zonal Education Officer Pampore Abdul Rashid was the chief guest on the occasion. About 110 teachers from education Zone Pampore participated in the day-long training programme.

ZEO Pampore Abdul Rasheed, Programme Coordinator Tariq Abdullah RPs from DIET Pulwama Pampore, Dr Shaheena Akhter senior lecturer, Qaiser Ahmad, senior lecturer Mukhtar Ahmad and lecturer Arshid Ahmad Dar delivered their lectures regarding the same topic. Various RPs from SDRP and civil defence show live demonstrations, officials told Kashmir Reader.

“We have invited one teacher from each school in zone Pampore for school safety counsellor’s training,” ZEO Pampore, Abdul Rashid told Kashmir Reader, adding that they want to train one teacher from each school to equip them on how they can ensure the safety of students in case of any eventuality.

“The teachers have to ensure the safety of students from home to school and from school back to home,” he said, adding that once students enter the school the teachers have to see if the building is safe or not.

He said if the teacher finds that the school building is unsafe he has to take up the matter with higher authorities to seek timely rectification.

“The teacher should also look about boundary wall around the school, any factory or shop selling unwanted substances near the school which will affect students negatively,” he said, adding that the government has taken proactive measures concerning the safety of students and it wishes to train teachers who can handle the situation in case any eventuality occurs.
