World Wildlife Day celebrated at National Park Dachigam, Shikargah Tral

PAMPORE: On the occasion of World Wildlife Day, special awareness programmes were organized by the department of wildlife protection, Central Division, at National Park Dachigam and Shikargah area of Sub Division Tral.

During these programmes, a good number of people including researchers, forest guards, environment students and locals of Dachigam and Shikargah participated with the aim to learn something about the preservation of wildlife.

The main function was organised by the Department of Wildlife Protection Central Division Dachigam under the supervision of wildlife warden central division Altaf Hussain at Dachigam National Park in view of World Wildlife Day under the theme “Partnerships for wildlife conservation”

World Wildlife day is celebrated every year on March 3 to bring awareness among the people regarding wildlife and its conservation.

The event held at Dachigam National Park commenced wherein several NGOs, Researcher Scholars, Public Representatives, students and teachers, Civil Society members,

Volunteers and officials of the Wildlife Protection Department participated, officials told Kashmir Reader.

On the occasion, Wildlife Warden Central Division Altaf Hussain said that this day is an opportunity to take the message of conservation to grass root level by involving students, scholars and civil society to raise awareness about the multitude of benefits that conservation of Wildlife, Environment and Natural Resources offers to human civilization. He further elaborated that there is an urgent need to develop a coordinated method wherein every member of civil society and other organizations will participate in the process of conservation besides the department of Wildlife Protection and Forest.

Speakers from NGOs, Schools, and PRI and others also laid emphasis on the importance of the wildlife ecology and over-interdependence on these two components.

They highlighted the fact that if any component of the environment suffers the distortion because of human activities then all of us have to pay a big price, Altaf Hussain told Kashmir Reader. It was jointly pledged by all present in the gathering to propagate the message of Wildlife Conservation and protection of its natural habitat. The motive is to trigger the enthusiasm of the people towards taking part actively in all conservation aspects.

An awareness programme was organized by the department of wildlife protection Shikargah area of Sub Division Tral.

Wildlife warden Shopian Intesar Suhail was the chief guest in the event.

During this programme, a good number of people including researchers, wildlife department employees, environment students and locals participated in the programme.
