Month-long hatchery management training commences at SKUAST-K

Srinagar: A month-long hands-on training on hatchery management practices commenced on Wednesday at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Shuhama campus.

The training is being organised by the SKUAST-K’s Division of Livestock Production & Management, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry under the World Bank-ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for the institutional development of SKUAST-K.

Dean FVSc&AH Prof MT Banday, who was the Chief Guest at the occasion, congratulated the organizing committee for organizing the programme and stressed upon the importance of hands-on training programmes in hatchery management. Prof Azmat Alam Khan, OSD to Vice Chancellor and Guest of Honour for the event complimented the Division of Livestock Production and Management for leading in organizing such events and having many firsts in the University to its name.

Earlier the Course Director, Prof IU Sheikh, Prof and Head, Division of LPM welcomed the guests & participants to the event and briefed the gathering about the upcoming training programme. He thanked the Vice Chancellor and PI-NAHEP, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, for his support and encouragement for the organisation of this training programme. He appraised that the hands-on technical know-how shall be given to the UG and PG students of the Faculty in order to prepare and encourage them for taking hatchery activity as start-ups. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks in which the support of IDP-NAHEP, SKUAST-K and the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry was deeply appreciated.
