Anti-encroachment drive continues in Pampore; 60 kanal govt land retrieved

PAMPORE: The eviction and anti-encroachment drive to retrieve State and Kachchari land continued for the second day in the Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
The revenue department Pampore carried out the drive at the Befina area of Pampore during which 60 kanals of Kahcharai land was retrieved. Several illegal structures which were built on the Kahcharai land in the Befina area were demolished.
The revenue department is led by Naib Tehsildar Pampore Javaid Ahmad and is assisted by Municipal Committee Pampore. The revenue authorities informed that during the ongoing eviction drive, several illegal structures were razed down and 60 kanals of land were freed.
A day ago, 400 kanals of State and Kachchari land were evicted from encroachment at Bagandar and Namblabal areas of Pampore. Tehsildar Pampore Zuber Ahmad Bhat told Kashmir Reader that the drive will continue till it is taken to its logical conclusion. He said the drive was carried out on instructions of DC Pulwama.
A similar anti-encroachment drive was launched in the Kakapora area of Pulwama. The revenue officials said that 35 kanals of State land worth crores were evicted from encroachment in the Kakapora area. They said that during the drive some walls were removed to evict the state land.
