Highway reopens after 12 hours closure

Srinagar: Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with the outside world, reopened after 12 hours closure due to shooting stones and stone-slide in Ramban district.
The traffic department official said that thoroughfare was blocked due to shooting stones at Rampadi in Banihal area of the district early on Wednesday morning. Sources said a major slide
“From Jammu-Srinagar highway remained blocked for 12 hours due to landslide at Rampari near Sherbibi,” he said, adding, “Subject to fair weather and road clearance, LMVs Passenger/Private
Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.”
The highway reopened last evening after remaining closed for two days due to shooting stones and mudslide besides snowfall at several places along the thoroughfare.
