Snow football coaching camp ongoing in Pampore

PAMPORE: Etihad Football Club has been conducting a winter coaching camp for youth in Saffron town Pampore of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A group of young players of the Saffron Town played football despite heavy snowfall under the supervision of coach Sajid Nazir. The youth continued to practice their game even during snowfall.
A group of teens was seen playing football at Iqbal ground Tanchibagh area of Saffron town on Monday.
“We have set up snow coaching camp, and all of our boys are taking part in it, ” Sajiz told Kashmir Reader. “It was our good luck that it snowed today.”
Our motive is to keep our young generation far from drug addiction, the coach said, adding that they train three teams and each team has 20 players.
He said that they have been training young kids in the game since 2000 in U-13, U-15 and U-18 . “We want this game to grow in Pulwama,” he said, adding that they also focus on coach education.
Sajid said that their head coach, Zahid Shafi, is currently coaching a reputed football club in Delhi. He said some of their players have been selected for different clubs across the country.
Talib Ahmad, a football player from Pampore, appealed to the district administration for building the necessary infrastructure on the ground so that they can play the game without facing any difficulty.
He also appealed for dewatering the ground so that they can resume coaching as soon as possible.
