Sumbal: Debates & Seminar Committee and Psychological Counselling Cell of GDC Sumbal in collaboration with the Traffic Police of J&K, organized an awareness and sensitization programme regarding the “Importance of following Traffic Rules” in GDC Sumbal on Wednesday.
The programme was started with the opening remarks presented by Dr. Mehraj Hajni, HOD Political Science and Staff Secretary of the college.
The presidential address was given by the Worthy Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, in which she advised the students and other participants, why it is imperative on part of all of us to follow all the Traffic Rules in Letter and Spirit and how by following these necessary rules and regulations we can be in a position to save the most precious lives of our people.
She declared that no biker should enter into the premises of the college without wearing the helmet and also having the other necessary valid documents for driving purposes.
The traffic Police Officer Mr. Gh. Nabi while deliberating on the subject said that Traffic Police is for the safety and security of the common people and they are always ready to help anybody who so ever contacts them for seeking any advice regarding the safe driving. Prof. Riyaz Ahmad Kuchay, HOD Economics and Convener, Debates & Seminar Committee highlighted certain facts and figures related to the loss of so many lives in the traffic accidents as a result of rash and reckless driving.
The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Mohamad Iqbal Rather, HOD Urdu and Convener Psychological Counselling Cell. Dr. Riffat Basharat carried out the proceedings of the programme. Besides the faculty members, a large number of the students of the college attend the event.
