TLSC Pampore organised Legal Awareness Programme on “Anti Ragging Laws”

PAMPORE: The Tehsil Legal Services Committee Pampore organised an awareness programme on “Anti Ragging Laws” at Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Tehsil Legal Services Committee Pampore under the guidance of Chairman TLSC Pampore Junaid Imtiaz Mir (Munsiff/JMIC Pampore) organised an awareness programme on the subject titled “Anti Ragging Laws” at MTQ Public School Wuyan Pampore.
The objective of the programme was to make students aware about what are Anti Ragging Laws and why are these laws important.
Ragging which is social interaction between seniors and juniors in schools and colleges. An interaction which can take very brutal, inhuman and anti-social form at times.
Even some of the highly reputed colleges and institutions have a terrible history of ragging, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Looking at all this, Anti-Ragging Laws are now very much necessary.
Some states in India have their own legislations on ragging.
Some states which do not have their own legislation on ragging and therefore the ragging laws in these states are in accordance with the central legislations on ragging.
Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Khan spoke about the provisions in the IPC which can be used by a student to register an FIR in the nearest Police Station.

Speakers were Bar President Ajaz Ahmad Khan,Advocate Malik Wajid, Principal Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, Teacher Mohammad Iqbal Wani, Sajad Ahmad Bhat.
The programme was attended by Bar President Bar Association Pampore, Principal Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, Teachers and students from the school, Panel Lawyers and PLVs of TLSC Pampore.
