Harvard instructor Shabir Hassan will now coach Kashmiri students

Srinagar: Shabir Hussain, a Kashmiri-Harvardian career investigator, will now train Kashmiri students to make informed career choices. His expertise will enable students to remove their clutter, insecurity, and indecisiveness in deciding their career path, a trio responsible for killing much talent.
The international expert’s service will be available at Move Beyond, a start-up that has guided over 20,000 persons in five years. Hussain is a co-founder.
He will be aiding fellow founder Sheikh Inayat Ullah, who has been working with students for a decade now.
So far, the start-up has guided students mostly from socially and economically humble backgrounds. Some of them have made it to prestigious universities of the world.
Born and brought up in Pulwama area of Kashmir, Hassan has climbed the success ladder from Kashmir itself. He started his schooling locally, moved to Kashmir University where he studied science, and then moved to Harvard, where he studied on a scholarship.
Later he was appointed there as an early stage instructor. Today, he teaches at one of the renowned universities in the Arab world.
At a time when Kashmir is grappling with unemployment issues, one of the highest in India, Move Beyond’s early stage intervention at student level could prove to be a game changer. The career counselling school’s model inquires into the choices, habits, environment, and vision of the student. A psychometric test is used to gauge the student’s abilities, which could be honed.
“His presence will act as an accelerator for the organisation. We will be able to serve more students. He will be an asset,” Sheikh Inayat said.
Inayat said that a lot of students due to various pressures make choices that do not fit their personalities. This later becomes a longer problem when a student fails to find employment, a problem perennial to Kashmir.
“Our method makes it clear to a student at an early stage of career the paths and scope of their choices. This not only guides them but also keep them clear and focused,” he said.
