Awantipora police organises Cycle race

Will organise more such kinds of activities in future: SSP Awantipora

PAMPORE: As a part of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” Police District Awantipora organized a Cycle Race (Pedal for Peace) from Galander Pampore to Awantipora on Sunday.
The cycle race was flagged off by SSP Awantipora Mohammad Yousuf in presence of SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad, DSP DAR Awantipora Syed Fayaz, SHO Pampore Adil Ashraf.
The event was witnessed by a large number of participants.
About 60 cyclists including professionals from Pampore, Awantipora, Tral and other areas participated of the event and covered a distance of 20 kilometres.
The rally passed through Srinagar-Jammu national highway and finally culminated at Toll Plaza Awantipora.
SSP Awantipora, while interacting with the participants said that Police will organise such kinds of activities in future also, so that the youth stay away from negative activities like drugs and their energy is channelized in right direction. He also urged the participants to take part in such events and promote cycling habits to maintain their physical and mental fitness.
The participants appreciated the move of Awantipora police and stayed on the road side to cheer up for the participating cyclists.
At the end of the event, prizes were distributed among the winners and runner ups by SSP Awantipora Mohammad Yousuf. DSP DAR Awantipora Syed Fayaz, SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali, SHO Awantipora Mohammad Younis Khan and other police officers were present at the event.
He distributed cash reward, certificates, among the first three winners of the event and participation certificate among all the participants.
The first winner was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5000. Similarly, second, third positions were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 3000, Rs 2000 respectively.
Moreover, consolation prize was presented to the participants who secured positions upto 10th place.
