Man from Pampore sentenced two years imprisonment in hit-and-run case

PAMPORE: Judicial Magistrate IST class Pampore convicted a person for two years and two months imprisonment in hit a run case near Patalbagh village in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The accused driver namely Mohd Yousuf Malik was sentenced under section 304 A and 279 RPC for imprisonment of 2 years and 2 months respectively and both sentences shall run concurrently.
He was sentenced for hitting a pedestrian, Abdul Ahad, with his private vehicle in 2015 near Patalbagh Pampore.
The said driver was accused for rash and negligent driving having hit the pedestrian who latter succumbed to injuries.
While giving the judgment the magistrate observed that there is enough material on the record to prove that the accused while driving his car bearing registration no JK13C- 1527 rashly and negligently hit an old pedestrian.
“Prosecution has been able to successfully prove the contents of Sec 304 A/ 279 RPC against the accused beyond any reasonable shadow of doubt. As such the accused is convicted for the offence under Sec 304-A/279 RPC and is sentenced to imprisonment for 2 years for the offence under Sec 304A RPC and 2 months for the offence under Sec 279 RPC.
The sentences shall run concurrently,” the magistrate observed.
