SKUAST-K takes important decisions in 6th Board of Management Meet

Srinagar: SK University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir held its 69th Board of Management Meeting at Shalimar Campus under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai.
This is the first meeting of BoM after the joining of the new vice chancellor in Dec 2021. The meeting was participated by Atal Duloo, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare, GoJk; Vivek Bhardwaj, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Finance Department, GoJK; Dr.Raghav Langer, IAS Secretary to Government, Planning, Monitoring and Development, GoJK; Dr S. Rajendra Prasad , Vice-Chancellor UAS, Bangalore; Prof J P Sharma Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. T.H. Masoodi, Registrar; Directors of SKUAST-K Dr M N Khan, Dr DM Makhdoomi, Dr HaroonNaik; Abdul Rashid Chadino, Agro Industrialist and Masarat, Progressive Farmer from the Kashmir Division who were nominated by Chancellor of the University.
The board appreciated the achievements and rankings of the university and its ambitions of “becoming the first innovation lead farm university in the country” and the strategies laid down by it to realise its goal of “making Jammu and Kashmir as the Model Bio-economy State of the country”. ShriAtalDullo specifically emphasized the need to formulate new policies, programs and institutions that can help to transform the subsistence agriculture into sustainable agi-economy, and desired that SKUAST Kashmir and SKUAST Jammu to play a significant role to shape his vision. ShriVivekBhardwaj stressed that SKUAST-K should take advantage of its brand and the ambience of Kashmir to boost its internal revenues of the university by initiating short-duration paid courses, both skill-oriented and executive development programs.
The Board approved various centres and instituted new programmes like the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; SK Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Centre; Division of Agro-metrology; new programmes at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level.The Board also agreed to the proposal of establishment of College for Vocational Trainings with some changes in the financial aspects and the quantified outcomes. The Board appreciated and approved the new policy decisions about the institution of the Innovation and Start-up Policy (SISP) for Students and faculty; SKUAST-K Alumni / Endowment; Consultancy Policy for faculty; empanelment of Adjunct Faculty/ Professors of Practice. Model of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for Agri education was appreciated. The post graduate program in sand-which mode was approved, which desired that a PG student has to complete his degree in at least two universities.Many policy matter decision were also taken in the meeting related to career progression of teaching and non-teaching staff of the University.At the end, Vice-Chancellor thanked the members of the Board government for sparing their valuable time in taking part in the important decision-making body of the university and for their wholehearted support in carrying forward the mission of the university. He also complimented all those officials in the Registrar’s and Vice-Chancellors office who were associated with the successful conduct of the meeting.
