Patalbagh Pampore villagers cry for irrigational water

PAMPORE: Bartiya Janta Party leader and Minority Morcha Mohammad Lateef Bhat and DDC member Advocate Minha Lateef visited Patalbagh village of Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district to assess facility of irrigation in the area.
The visit came after residents of Patalbagh village complained of shortage of irrigational water to their paddy fields in the area.
BJP leader Mohammad Lateef Bhat and her daughter DDC member Advocate Minah Lateef visited the area and met farmers and listen the grievance of the farmers which they face since last month.
The formers informed father daughter that a pumping station through which a vast area of Agriculture land was supplied irrigational water suffered malfunctioning.
The farmers from the area said that due to lack of irrigation, paddy has been drying.
” We visited this area because an irrigation scheme was not working due to which they suffer a lot, we met Principal Secretary and Chief Engineer, they gave good response,” DDC member, Minha Latif told Kashmir Reader, adding that the executive engineer flood control also visited the spot and he assured he will make his utmost to rectify the scheme.
BJP leader Mohammed Lateef Bhat told Kashmir Reader that he was assured by principal secretary that the issue of farmers will be redressed.
He also said that executive engineer flood control visited the spot in the morning and said that the issue will be solved soon.
Progressive farmer and member of Kisan Advisory board Irshad Ahmad Dar told Kashmir Reader that their paddy land is drying. He told that concerned officials paid no heed to their pleas after which they invited DDC member Minha Latif and BJP leader Mohammad Latif Bhat to their village.
The formers of the area thanked BJP leaders and DDC members for raising their issues with the Principal Secretary and Chief Engineer.
